Chapter 17, The Stealth

Elsewhere, Charizard surveys the city from the sky.  His swinging tail signals the Sniper Assault team below.  Blaziken decodes the message.  He takes the lead and guides the group.  He stops everyone when he spots two Kenneth Soldiers around the corner with their backs turned.  With hand signals, Blaziken shows Emboar what to do.  Emboar nods, quietly steps away from the group and proceeds towards the Kenneth Soldiers.

“What was Blaziken doing with his hands just now?” asks Gumball.

Nicole quickly covers Gumball’s mouth.  “Shhhhhhh, he’s using hand signals,” she whispered.  “Hand signals are used to communicate with allies without any risk of the enemy hearing what they’re up to.”

“Oh cool,” whispered Gumball.  “So what did Blaziken say?”

“I don’t know,” says Nicole “I can’t read hand signals.”

The two Kenneth Soldiers stand still waiting for any sign of the enemy.  They suspect nothing as Emboar sneaks up behind them and bashes their heads together.  His intention is to knock the Soldiers out cold.  But because they are slimy, instead of bashing their heads, Emboar ended up mashing their heads.  Surprised to see the Kenneth Soldiers with their heads mashed into one, he decides to take the disoriented creatures and just roll them up into a big slimy ball, which he then throws over his shoulder.  As he shakes the slime off his hands, Infernape runs up and jumps on his shoulders to get a better view.  From his vantage point, he looks around for any more slimy Soldiers.   Seeing that the coast is clear, he signals the others to keep moving.

“Wow,” says Toby, “Devin trained these Pokémon really well.”

“Shhhhh,” says Beki, “We’re supposed to be moving in silence.  You know, like ninjas.”

“Ninjas?” says Toby.  “Oh no, no, no, you’re thinking of the Ninja Storm Red Ranger.  I’m the Mystic Force Red Ranger.”

“If you blow our cover, you’re going to be a dead duck trapped in a poison ivy plant Red Ranger!” says Beki.

“Uh, I don’t like the sound of that,” says Toby, “I’d better comply.”

As the Sniper Assault Team moves out in silence, the rest of the Rangers and Pokémon begin to patrol the city waiting for the right opportunities to cause a distraction.

Seven Kenneth Soldiers charge at Nicolas.  At just the precise moment he strikes the ground with his Ice Sai causing ice to spread before him.  When it touches the Kenneth Soldiers, they freeze in place.  Nicolas retrieves his weapons and, with his elemental power allowing him to do this with ease, he skates across the ice swiftly.  He strikes each and every Kenneth Soldier he passes with his Ice Sai.  It looks as if he didn’t lay a single scratch on any of the frozen Soldiers. But at the end of the icy path, he hears a noise like shattering glass as the Soldiers completely burst into thousands of pieces.  “Too easy,” he says.

Dan, finding himself facing several Kenneth Soldiers, realizes he is about to be attacked.  Unfazed, he draws out his Golden Sword and prepares for battle.  The Kenneth Soldiers stare at this shiny weapon.  “Metal Sound!” Dan commands.  He flicks the blade of his sword, releasing the Pokémon move.  The Soldiers cover their ears and cry in agony to the metal sound waves coming from the Golden Sword.  With the Kenneth Soldiers distracted and their special defense lowered, Dan attacks with his sword and a few punches and kicks to boot.  He gets past them and turns around for another attack.  He holds up his sword and shouts “Flash Cannon!”  The blade glows a silvery color, he thrusts it forward and the Flash Cannon attack is shot at the Kenneth Soldiers from the Golden Sword.  Dan makes a pose of satisfaction to the Kenneth Soldiers destruction.  “A flashy performance, if I do say so myself.”

The Sniper Assault Team has quietly and successfully made their way through the park and come up to the front gate.  There they spy two Kenneth Soldiers standing on the other side.  Being the leader, Beki looks around and comes up with a plan.  Across from the gate, she sees a hedge.  Using her power over plant life, she holds out her hands and causes the hedge to rustle.  The Soldiers hear the sound and run off to check it out, leaving the gate clear.  With the Soldiers out of the way, the Sniper Assault Team keeps moving.

“Brilliant distraction, Beki,” whispers Penny.

“Thanks,” whispers Beki.

“How did you do that anyway?” asks Penny.

“I have power over plant life.  And this isn’t the first time I’ve used it to distract someone.  I’ve done it tons of times with Devin.”

“Excuse me,” says Toby, “but aren’t you the one who said we need to be silent like ninjas?”

“Don’t go there,” warns Beki.

“I’ll go where I want, hypocrite,” says Toby.

“Keep your mouth shut!” hisses Beki.

“You first!” Exclaims Toby in an angry whisper.

Nicole rushes up to the two bickering Rangers.  She puts her hands on the back of their helmets and pushes down.  “In case you two have forgotten,” she says, “we have no time what-so-ever for arguing.  We have to get to that building and destroy the shrink ray before it’s too late.  I don’t know about you two, but I’m not in favor of having my home world shrunk to the size of a meatball and eaten like one.  So, Toby, you keep quiet.  And Beki, you get your head back in the game and lead the assault.

“Right, right, sorry,” says Beki.  “Keep moving everyone, we need to hurry.”

The Sniper Assault team keeps moving through the wreckage of Elmore, staying hidden and remaining silent.

Back with the other Rangers and Pokémon, Rhyperior fights the army with all his might, swinging his wrecking ball tail, throwing in rock solid punches, even drilling into their faces with his drilling horn.

Michael fights with his Earth Axe when he notices Kenneth Soldiers closing in on his Rhyperior.  After shoving a Soldier away, he drives his fist into the ground and pulls out a massive boulder.  Then, he uses it to plow his way through Kenneth Soldiers to get to Rhyperior.  He sets the boulder down once he makes it.  “Rhyperior!” says Michael.  He strikes the boulder with his ax, causing it to break into several smaller rocks.  “Lock and load!”

“Rhy!” says Rhyperior with a nod.  He stuffs the holes in his palms with the rocks, he aims at the Soldiers, and with the use of the muscles in his hands, he launches the rocks like cannon balls.  Each rock fired makes an impact with a Kenneth Soldier or two.  Not one Soldier heading his way is able to avoid the incoming rocks.

“That’s the stuff, Rhyperior,” says Michael, “keep it up!”

Elsewhere, five Kenneth Soldiers stand looking around, waiting for an enemy to show up.  Their waiting ends when Dustin comes out of nowhere.

“Oh my,” he says, “you fellas are looking pretty dirty.”  The Soldiers look at themselves wondering what’s wrong with them.  “Not to worry, I can get you clean with the help of some friends.  Blastoise!  Sharpedo!  Floatzel!  Seismitoad!”  The Kenneth Soldiers find themselves surrounded by the Blue Ranger and four water type Pokémon.  “Take aim.” Each Pokémon aims at one Soldier.  Dustin does the same with his Water Crossbow.  “Hydro Pump, full power!”  The Soldiers quiver, knowing they cannot escape this five-way shot.  “A-a-a-a-a-and…fire!”  Blasts of high pressured water ammo collide with the Soldiers ‘slimy bodies causing goopy bits to splatter everywhere.  As the hydro blast surges on, the slimy beasts are completely washed away.  “There you go.  Now you’re so clean, you can’t even be seen.  Ha ha!”  The Pokémon don’t laugh with Dustin, though Seismitoad gives him a thumbs down.  “Oh come on, it was clever!”

In another part of Elmore, the Sniper Assault Team creeps ever closer to their destination.  As they steal around a corner, they find their path blocked by a gigantic wall of crushed and crippled cars.  “Not another obstacle!  And why a giant road block made of piled up metal and rubber tires!  How are we gonna get around this!” exclaims Beki.  “Wait!  I’ve got it!  You, Delphox, you’re part psychic type, right?”  Delphox nods in agreement.  “Fantastic!  You’re up, it’s your turn to shine.  Use your powers to move this trash heap out of our way.”

“Hey, wait a minute,” barks Toby.  “I have magic powers and can do that job just as well as that Poké-thing!”

“Well, Mr. Wizard, we are gonna save your “Magic” for something useful that will need more than just mind power.  Be on the watch for Kenneth Soldiers.  With our luck, there will be a whole army of them waiting for us behind that mountain of steel.”

“Or Maybe just two,” piped up Gumball.  “Because so far, the ones we’ve run into have come in pairs.”

“Rawr!”  Typhlosion speaks up to volunteer his services.

“What did he say, Celebi?” asks Beki.

“Bi, bi, bi, bi” is the reply.

“Wow, that’s a great idea.  You’re right.  The Soldiers will be distracted by floating cars.  That’s when you will charge at them with your Flame Wheel attack.  That should take care of any opposition,” says Beki with confidence.

With a nod, Typhlosion runs on all fours and finds an alternative path to get in position for his sneak attack.

“Ok, Delphox, do your thing,” whispers Beki.

“Del,” replies Delphox.  With her eyes glowing, Delphox puts her psychic powers to work.

On the other sides of the great wall of automobiles, two Kenneth Soldiers stare at a small chunk of cement just lying on the road.  For some reason, they seem fascinated by it.  They point and talk about this irrelevant piece of cement in gibberish.  Then they hear some metal shifting.  They turn to see a few smashed cars floating in their air.  Confused, they stare engrossed at this odd sight.  Across from the two Soldiers, Typhlosion spots his chance.  The back of his neck ignites into a fiery mane; his whole body explodes into a ball of flames.  He charges, jumps and rolls in his Flame Wheel Attack.  The Soldiers turn their attention away from the cars and see a huge fiery mass heading straight for them.  The two sludge balls barely let out a scream before being wiped out by the burning impact.

“Rawr rawr!” Typhlosion calls out, waving his hand.

“Bi bi bi bi,” Celebi says to Beki.

“Alright, the cost is clear, Delphox,” says Beki.  “You can move the rest now.”

“Delphox,” says Delphox with a nod.  Expanding the reach of her own power, Delphox moves the car wall out of the way.

“Nice job, Delphox,” says Nicole.  “Now that the wall’s gone, we can keep moving.”

“And the building’s only three blocks away,” says Penny.

“Really?” says Beki.  “Then let’s get a move on.”

The Sniper Assault Team continues their way forward.  The excitement increases as they get closer and closer to their destination.

Meanwhile, Ash and his BFF, Pikachu, fight a swarm of Kenneth Soldiers side by side.  A Kenneth Soldier attacks catching Ash off guard, knocking him down.  As Ash tries to regain his feet, he comes face to face with a Soldier and his blade just waiting to strike.

“Pika-pi!” shouts Pikachu, translated into “Ash!”  He swings into action.  From the tip of his tail, Pikachu charges up an Electro Ball Attack.  He jumps in the air and powerfully flings the Electro Ball at its target.  It flies straight into the Soldier’s mouth.  Glaoaoa!  The confused enemy stops to try to figure out what the strange noise was is in his head when BLAM!!, the Electro Ball explodes causing the gunky creature to pop like a giant muddy bubble.

“Whoa!” says Ash as he stands up.  “I don’t know how you managed to pull that off, Pikachu, but do it again.  And this time, I’ll join in.”

“Pika,” says Pikachu.

“Lightning Spear!” yells Ash.  Just as commanded, his summoned weapon appears in his hand.  “Electro Ball!” Ash prepares his Lighting Spear as the ball of electricity builds up on the blade.

“Pika!” says Pikachu as he charges another Electro Ball Attack on his tail.

With a swing of the spear and tail, Ash and Pikachu hurl Electro Balls into the maws of the remaining Kenneth Soldiers, causing the same result as before.

“Nice work, Pikachu,” says Ash as he and his partner keep using Electro Ball.  “Keep it up; we got’em where we want’em.”

In another part of Elmore, Adam with his Psychic Dragon Saber, and Tracey with his Air Baton, battle Kenneth Soldiers together.

“They keep coming!” exclaims Tracey.  “It’s like with every slimy Soldier we take down, two more take its place!”  He whacks a Soldier in the face with his long baton.

“These Kenneth Soldiers are made from Kentyth’s essence,” replies Adam, “which allows him to create more.”  He stabs a Kenneth Soldier with his saber and flings it away.

“Then unless we defeat Kentyth, we’ll be overrun,” says Tracey.

“Perhaps,” answers Adam, “But we haven’t come close to that happening.  We can only fight on and hope for the best.”  He spots a large number of Kenneth Soldiers heading his way.  “Dragon Pulse!”  The attack blasts from the blade and completely demolishes the Soldiers.

“Sounds like our only option,” Tracey agrees, “but an option nonetheless.”  Three miniature tornados move in a circle around him, the charging process of an upcoming attack.  Six Kenneth Soldiers take aim at Tracey.  But before they could fire, Tracey yells “Razor Wind!”  Suddenly the tornados disappear and Tracey unleashes wind slashes with his Air Baton.  The Soldiers fall apart.

Meanwhile, now that obstacles have been removed, the Sniper Assault Team finds all clear.  They move forward without any more confrontation.  The team approaches their destination and makes to enter the building.  They come to a grinding halt when they discover the door has been fortified with steel and they can’t get in.   “Are you kiddin’ me!” exclaims Gumball.  “I think this city is losing its mind by the minute!”

“Obviously this has been done by Kentyth or one of his flunkies, probably to keep the hostages from escaping,” explains Beki.  “The question now is how do we penetrate these doors?”

“Not to worry, I have fire magic.  I can just melt right through…..” begins Toby.

“Del!” interrupts Delphox with an out-stretched arm.

Toby butts in, “Oh come on!! You can’t be depriving me of my magic again!  What’s your ridiculous reasoning this time?”

Delphox reaches into her sleeve-like fur and draws out her wand, a burning branch.  Moving it with a circular motion, she creates a ring of fire.  She blows through the ring, creating a spinning flamethrower.  The blast melts right through the steel door.

“Of course you would use Mystical Fire,” says Toby.  “It’s your signature move, after all.”

“Nice work, Delphox,” says Beki.  “Alright everyone, we’re almost there.  Celebi, tell Charizard to keep watch just in case anyone comes by to stop us.”

“Bi bi,” says Celebi with a nod.

The Sniper Assault Team moves inside and begins their ascent up the stairs.  Suddenly there is a commotion from below.

“Blaz!  Blaziken!” shouts the Pokémon.

Celebi translates Blaziken’s words for Beki.  “Oh no!” she says.  “Charizard can see a Kenneth Ship coming this way!  We have to get to the thirteenth floor before it gets here!”

“And when it does?” asks Gumball.

“We hide!”
